OUR MISSION
PROMOTING PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS TO GLOBAL HEALTH CHALLENGES WORSENED BY CLIMATE CHANGE
Forecasting Healthy Futures (FHF) seeks to bring greater attention to the inequities at the intersection of global health and climate change, and to encourage investment in proactive solutions that anticipate and mitigate the effects of a warming planet on human health, in vulnerable communities.
According to the World Health Organization, climate-driven health risks include:
Extreme heat
Natural disasters and variable rainfall patterns
Changing patterns of infection
Negative impacts on social and environmental determinants of health
About Forecasting Healthy Futures
THE WORLD NEEDS NEW GLOBAL HEALTH SOLUTIONS IN THE CONTEXT OF CLIMATE CHANGE.
Despite a deepening consensus among scientists and the medical community, and abundant modeling exercises that describe the increasing burden of climate change on human health, not enough is being done to develop real adaptative strategies and practical solutions that anticipate and avoid the worst health consequences of climate change on vulnerable populations.
FORECASTING HEALTHY FUTURES WAS LAUNCHED TO ACCELERATE INVESTMENT IN NEW SOLUTIONS.
In 2020, Malaria No More convened a coalition of global health and technology partners committed to addressing the intersection of health and climate through data-driven models; shining a light on the intersection of health and climate; and elevating it on the international agenda, mobilizing additional resources for its advancement.
FORECASTING HEATHLY FUTURES WAS ESTABLISHED WITH TWO BROAD OBJECTIVES:
PUT HEALTH AT THE CENTER OF THE CLIMATE CHANGE DIALOGUE
